Theresa Woldman nee Hoeksema, age 88, of Downers Grove formerly of LaGrange Park. Beloved wife of the late John Woldman; loving mother of Karen (Ronald) Koning, Kathy (the late Steven) Laning, Kristine (Cary) Vandenakker, and Karyl (Keith) Bradley; devoted grandmother of Anna Koning, Stephanie Laning, Amy (Brian) Harnew, Abby, Tyler (Natalie) Vandenakker, and Jonathan Bradley; devoted great grandmother of Adelyn and Trevor Harnew; preceded in death by two brothers; aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Date of birth - March 3, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois
Parents name – Albert & Anna Hoeksema
Theresa was the youngest of 3 – John, Frank, Theresa
Theresa lived most of her life in Oak Park, Illinois, and attended the public schools there.
Theresa was baptized and became a member of West Side Reformed Church in Cicero, IL.
Theresa worked at Sunbeam Corp. in Chicago while her husband, John, served in the Korean War.
Later in life Theresa cleaned houses and worked for Tom Oldenburger at State Farm.
Theresa met her husband when they were babies in the baby buggy and attended the same church where they were united in marriage on April 22, 1949. They lived in Chicago (on Menard) for a very short time with John’s parents in a 3-flat. She then moved to Oak Park to the house that her father built to take care of her ailing mother.
For many years, Theresa was known as ‘John the Painter’s wife’ instead of her name, Theresa. They were married for 52 years before John went to be with the Lord in 2001.
Their 4 daughters were all raised in Oak Park: Karen (Ron) Koning, daughter Anna who live in California. Kathy (the late Steven) Laning, daughters Stephanie who lives in Utah and Amy (Brian) Harnew who live in Illinois. Kris (Cary) VandenAkker who live in Massachusetts, children – Abby who lives in Texas, Tyler (Natalie) who live in California, and Karyl (Keith) Bradley son Jonathon. She has 2 great grandchildren – Adelyn and Trevor Harnew.
After their daughters married, John and Theresa relocated to LaGrange Park. During that time, they became members of Faith CRC. Theresa moved to Saratoga Grove in 2011 where her smile and laughter brought a lot of joy to the residents living there.

Theresa spent her widowed years spreading love of Jesus through her ‘card ministry’.
Theresa’s health began to deteriorate over the last couple of years, but still continued to smile and try to bring joy to the people around her.
On August 5, 2017, Theresa finally got her wish to see her Savior and be reunited with her beloved John (the painter).

Mom's Favorite verse:

“I have created you and cared for you since you were born. I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior.” (Isaiah 46:3&4 – The Living Bible)

We love you Mom - and we'll see you again someday.!!
